Biography

Dr. Ana Lazarević is the founder and Managing Partner of the law firm Lazarević & Pršić Attorneys. In addition to comprehensively organizing the firm’s internal operations and overseeing quality control of all our services, Dr. Lazarević actively advises and represents corporate clients in areas where she has particularly recognized expertise.

Dr. Lazarević has an outstanding reputation in the domestic and regional market in the field of labor law. From the early stages of privatization and the development of a market economy in the former Yugoslav republics, she advised and represented numerous corporate clients in Serbia, Montenegro, and Bosnia and Herzegovina in resolving complex issues related to employee relations, trade unions, collective agreements, and workforce reductions. Over the years, Dr. Lazarević has also developed an academic career in labor law and earned a doctorate on the topic of resolving labor disputes arising from collective dismissals, studying the legal frameworks of other countries in this context, with particular emphasis on the legislation and jurisprudence of Germany, France, Italy, and Croatia. This enables a better understanding of the positions and expectations of foreign investors regarding labor relations in subsidiaries in Serbia and the region. The team of labor law experts that Dr. Lazarević has built over the years often serves as the first point of contact for domestic and foreign investors across various industry sectors when evaluating and resolving all types of sensitive issues in this field.

Growing up in an engineering family and becoming a litigation attorney at an early stage, Dr. Lazarević developed a particular affinity for construction and property law, where she has extensive experience in litigation and out-of-court resolution of complex property matters, which are a conditio sine qua non for property transactions and construction projects. She has rare expertise in resolving complex property issues stemming from pre-transition inheritance, related to unresolved relationships arising from social ownership, nationalization, inconsistent property registries, and other specificities of that era, the problematic effects of which are still felt in the construction sector today. In addition, over the years, Dr. Lazarević has gained significant experience in land expropriation proceedings for the construction of major public infrastructure projects (bridges, roads), both formal and problematic de facto expropriations, successfully representing the rights holders of expropriated land in obtaining fair compensation. Thanks to decades of experience representing prominent investors and construction contractors, Dr. Lazarević and her team are capable of supporting clients in all aspects of property-related matters, from preparing and executing construction and investment agreements in accordance with FIDIC standards to project handover, registration of property, and subsequent management of relations with property buyers or tenants.

Recognizing the growing impact of artificial intelligence and digital assets in everyday business environments, and the need to integrate these trends with traditional business, by creating regulations and practices that enable a legitimate and seamless connection between the digital and real world, Dr. Lazarević devotes particular attention to developing her personal and the firm’s expertise in this area, both academically and in practice.

In addition to her legal practice, Dr. Ana Lazarević is actively engaged in academia. She is the author of numerous publications and a long-time clinical lecturer at the Faculty of Law, University of Belgrade, teaching the course “Professional Ethics of Judges and Attorneys,” where she shares her knowledge and experience with law students, contributing to the development of future generations of legal professionals.
